General Meeting

Call to Order: 10:00 a.m. by President Jim Dryden
Introduction of Guests: There were no guests at this meeting.
Jim Dryden asked members to stand for a moment of silence in respect for member Don Smith, who had recently passed away.
Members were reminded that suggestion cards were placed on each table, and suggestions for Speakers, Events, or other topics, are encouraged.
Events
Noel Currie encouraged members to sign up for the June 20th Solstice Dinner, and advised that only 15 couples are presently signed up, and that another 10 couples are needed to cover the minimum cost of 50 persons. Members can register by calling Keith Rolfe at 250-656-1880.
Sign-up sheets for the August 14th BBQ at Heritage Acres will be available at the July 5th and August 2nd. Meetings. Menu will be a variety of salads, choice of New York Steak, wild B.C. Sockeye salmon, or chicken, with deserts of pastries and fruit crumble. Cost is $45 per person, and it is a BYOB event.
The Christmas Luncheon will be at the Army, Navy & Air Force Veteran’s Club on 4th Street in Sidney on either December 6th or December 13th, and cost is expected to be $35 per person.
The count for lunch at Mary’s today was 21.

Bridge

Golf
Andy Rosequist advised that the next golf tournament is to be at Cedar Hill Course Thursday June 14, and Ron Gurney has the sign-up sheet. More golfers are needed – members are urged to get involved – skill level is not important
.
Hoppy Hour
Rod McLeod advised that the June 13th Hoppy Hour will be at the Surly Mermaid, #18 – 9851 Seaport Place, Sidney at 3:00 pm. Members, including those with taste for libations other than beer, are encouraged to attend.
The meeting then broke for coffee, provided by Fresh Cup Roastery Cafe (Jim Townley), and presented by the ladies of the Presbyterian Church.
Executive Reports
President
Jim Dryden noted that the club will have an August General Meeting. Member Don Malins had noted that monthly meetings are required, with the December Christmas Luncheon constituting the December meeting.
Vice-President
Tom Wallace – Absent - No-report.
Membership
Andy Rosequist reported that current club membership is 99 or 100, and that 47 members were in attendance at today’s meeting.
Treasurer
Peter Keith-Murray reported that the current bank balance is $1,661.01 and that Vic Swan has agreed to take over as Treasurer for the next club year.
Secretary
Rod Fimrite – Rod thanked Tom Wallace for agreeing to provide notes for the management meeting minutes of June19th, and asked that he do the same for the July 5th General Meeting as well, as Rod will not be in attendance for either of those meetings.
