Annual General Meeting
Minutes of the September 7, 2017 Annual General Meeting:
Adoption of those minutes was moved by Jack Parry, seconded by Steve Heddle, and carried.
Management Committee Reports
President: Jim Dryden – Jim thanked Noel Currie for organizing the Barbecue, and Stan Hegstrom for providing music for that event, and then thanked all members of the Management Committee for making his job as President much easier. Jim also expressed his feeling that the proposed new members of the Management Committee would serve the club well in the coming year.
Vice-President: Tom Wallace – Tom indicated that he had filled in for vacationing members during the year, and was looking forward to his term as president in the coming year.
Membership Chair: Andy Rosequist was absent, but Steve Heddle capably filled in for Andy, and reported that there are 103 members in the club, 60 of whom were in attendance at today’s Annual General Meeting.
Treasurer: Peter Keith-Murray reported that our current bank balance is $2,051.47. Peter filed an annual report of the club’s finances.
Secretary: Rod Fimrite thanked Tom Wallace for so capably taking notes at the meetings for which he was away, and thanked the other members of the committee for their patience with a greenhorn secretary.
Speakers Chair: Ralph Salomons – Ralph thanked members for their suggestions for speakers, and indicated that Rod McLeod would be taking over the role of Speakers Chair.
Events: Noel Currie reported that he had received many complementary remarks about the barbecue and other events of the year. Mike Parfitt will take over as Events Chair.
Past-President: Jack Parry reported that (a) The nominating committee consisting of himself, incoming president Tom Wallace, and Barry Hawkeswood .
Probus Cares – The club lost a number of members during the year, including Court Haddock, Ernie Wellwood, Tony Fitch, Brian Morton, Jack Devine, Jim Strong, and Don Smith. Condolence cards were sent on behalf of the club. Members appeared to have a reasonably healthy year, other than Barry Hawkeswood having heart surgery and David Broad having a hip replacement. It was later noted that Rick Gilmore had also had a hip replacement.
Bulletin: Jack Askham reported that Ralph Salomons will now handle the bulletin via Clubrunner, but indicated that he planned to be around for a while yet. A hearty round of applause was accorded Jack.
Review of 2017-2018 Club Finances:
Member Bruce Maybank reported that he had reviewed the financial reports of the club provided by Treasurer Peter Keith-Murray and found them to be in order.
Proposed Bylaw amendments
Moved by Ralph Salomons and seconded by Noel Currien that Bylaw #4(f) be amended as follows:
The Membership Chairman shall be responsible for the membership roll, which shall include members' names, postal and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and any other personal information that the Club may deem necessary. A Membership Roster shall be maintained on the club’s Website.
Motion defeated.
As Don Malins, who has been publisher of the roster booklet had indicated he did not wish to continue that duty. Jim Kingham and Bruce Maybank indicated that they would work with Don Malins to take over the production of the booklet.
Moved by Ralph Salomons, seconded by Steve Heddle that Bylaw #4(i), be amended to read:
Website Manager/Club Bulletin Editor will manage and keep current the club’s Website and will prepare, produce, and distribute electronically, a monthly copy of the Club Bulletin to each Club member.
Motion carried.
Moved by Rod Fimrite, seconded by Jack Parry, that the required Notice of Motion be waived to amend Bylaw #7(1).
Motion carried.
Moved by Ralph Salomons and seconded by G.J. Droszio that A motion to amend bylaw #7(1) to reflect the 10:00 am start time for general meetings.

2018-2019 Management Committee
Moved by Rod Fimrite, seconded by Doug Ross that the following members be acclaimed to their respective positions:
- Vice President – Don Amos
- Treasurer – Vic Swan
- Speakers Chair – Rod McLeod
- Events Chair – Mike Parfitt
- Website Manager/Bulletin Editor – Ralph Salomons
It was noted by Jim Dryden that the following members shall remain or moved to their respective positions:
- Current President Jim Dryden becomes Past President
- Current Vice-President Tom Wallace becomes President
- Andy Rosequist continues as Membership Chair
- Rod Fimrite continues as Secretary
At this point Jim Dryden passed the gavel to incoming president Tom Wallace, who introduced the newly elected members of the Management Committee.
The meeting concluded at 11:55 am on a motion by Tom Wallace, A delicious buffet lunch followed.
