Management Committee Meeting
September 24th
Minutes of the Management Meeting of the Probus Club of the Saanich Peninsula, Tuesday September 24th,2024. Meeting started at 1:00 pm
In attendance: Doug Watt (President), Noel Currie, Fred Morgan, Jack Parry, Barry Hawkeswood, Brian Muir, Randy Mains, Gordon Skultety.
President Doug Watt opened the meeting, by stating the purpose as primarily looking at the formation of the Events Committee, and special events such as Christmas luncheon, and summer BBQ.
The events committee has Fred Morgan, Drew Meredith, Michael McLoughlin, Dave Critchley
Barry having run the events program for many years had the following suggestions:
-prepare a list of monthly events, ( Doug provided a past list from Kinsmen, and Jack provided a list of past outings from around 2014) as a guide of what can be accomplished.
-get 2 members to run the event (a Probus member can be part of setting up and running an event.)
-liaise with Bridge group, Dining out group, Golf dates (Friday’s and away summer games) to avoid a scheduling conflict.
Another suggestion was trying to co-ordinate guest monthly speaker and Tour event if possible.
Also Christmas lunch was discussed. This year we have booked Mary Winspear as location for the December lunch, catered by Island Culinary Service Inc. we will need to look ahead one year and decide if change is warranted.
The summer BBQ will need new volunteers, and will be looked at in the coming months.
Noel Currie provided an operations statement showing a current bank balance of $ 2543.50
Also Dining Out will need a new co-ordinator/organizer.
Brian Muir moved that Greg Barron be admitted to the Probus Club, carried
