At the outset of the meeting, Doug Ross reviewed the format of the monthly meetings and verified the timing of the sessions with the group.
- Activity Survey results. Doug Ross outlined the responses received for each activity and listed the most popular activities as follows;
- Cribbage-10 responses
- Walking Group-9 responses
- Discussion Group-7 responses
- Technology-5 responses
- Euchre 4 responses.
- Christmas Lunch. There were 23 responses in the survey for the 2027 event. Discussion ensued on the 2026 lunch. There was sufficient interest shown to restrict this lunch to members and spouses only. Registration information will be posted on Club Runner.
- The dining out activity was discussed. It was decided to send out a message to all members who have participated to organize future dinners. David will contact Gord to arrange this.
- Speakers-Doug Watt has speakers lined up for meetings until March. He also has 2 additional speakers available. Doug listed each of the speakers that he has confirmed.
- Events. Michael is looking for volunteers to assist with events. There are two main events to organize: the Christmas lunch and the BBQ.
- It was decided that there is not sufficient interest to conduct monthly tours. Most of the membership has gotten to the point, age-wise, that any tours that require a lot of walking or stairs puts people off. We did discuss, however, investigating and possibly setting a date for a tour of the BC Legislature, followed by lunch there. Barry volunteered to take this on.
- Membership. It was decided to conduct outreach with other clubs and organizations. Doug Ross will discuss this with Doug Philp, one of our new members, to explore the possibilities with the organizations he knows. Drew will contact the Seaside magazine re placing an ad for new members.
- Other business. The Management Committee voted an ratified the coming year’s membership rate at $100.
