Probus Bridge - Guidelines
Players and suggested play dates
 
Play may start at the discretion of the host, but should normally be between 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Length of play
 
Normally 18 hands, but could be 24 hands. Must be decided by consensus before play starts. Suggested annual fee
Fifteen dollars per player to cover cost of trophy engraving and wrap up lunch. Hosts should collect fees at the first game {spares exempt)
Scoring
 
Slow game 300 points; quick game 500 points. Vulnerability lost after 2 games.
Player with the most bridge points gets 3 points; second gets 2 points; third one point; and forth no points. In the event of a tie, the combined points will be split evenly between the two players.
Rewards
10 cents per 100 points {rarely exceeds $3.00)
Jack Devine Trophy
 
Awarded to the player with the highest game point average score over the season {completing a minimum of fourteen sessions)
Player responsibility
If a scheduled player cannot play, he is responsible for finding a replacement from the "spare list", and advising the host.
Host responsibility
 
Provides playing cards, score cards, and pencils. Modest refreshments should be offered. All players to be notified {reminded) by the host a few days in advance of the play date. If the host is unable to play, he is responsible for either arranging for one of his players to host in addition to finding a spare; or reschedule the game (with player consensus).
